Union Women Union Power: From the Shopfloor to the Streets
The film was produced by the Coalition of Labor Union Women in Philadelphia and highlights 5 rank and file union women from difference sectors across Philadelphia introducing us to their lives and their recent fights for democracy in the workplace. The film was a product of an effort to encourage intergenerational dialogue in the labor movement in our CLUW chapter and across our city. Members of the Young Women's Committee conducted the interviews and aimed to use the final product as a tool to introduce particularly younger women to the labor movement with women as role models. The funding for this film was provided by the Berger Marks Foundation FEATURING: Patty Eakin: President, Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals; Corean Halloway: UNITE HERE Hotel and Foodservice Workers Local 274; Gwen Ivey: President, American Postal Workers Union Philadelphia Local; Evette Jones: Staff Representative & Community Engagement Coordinator, Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, AFT Local 3; Margarita Padin: Carpenter Local Union 8 PRODUCERS AND PROJECT DIRECTORS: Dina Yarmus, UNITE HERE Hotel and Foodservice Workers Local 274 Sandra Jeong-In Lane, Health Professionals and Allied Employees, AFT DIRECTOR: Christian Filippone; CINEMATOGRAPHY: Michael Toland MUSIC BY: Patrick Lamborn

What people miss about the gender wage gap
It's more complex than women earning 79 cents for every dollar a man makes. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Read the full article by Sarah Kliff: http://www.vox.com/2016/8/1/12108126/gender-wage-gap-explained-real Check out the studies: http://scholar.harvard.edu/files/goldin/files/dynamics_of_the_gender_gap_for_young_professionals_in_the_financial_and_corporate_sectors.pdf When there is talk about the gender wage gap, often the statistic heard is, “Women earn 79 cents for every dollar a man makes.” While this is factually correct, it does not encompass the nuances of the wage gap. The answer is in the complexity of this problem. Career types and child-rearing duties are both in the equation to closing the gender wage gap.
